How do mandatory and optional services work on the B2C Widget?

This article will teach you how Optional and Mandatory on Tire quoter services change the out-the-door price, and how that stays one charge when an auto-add rule already exists.

Tire quoter services on a B2C Widget are either in the out-the-door price, offered at checkout, or hidden on this website. Mandatory rolls the service into the out-the-door price. Optional shows it at checkout for shop install and mobile install. If the service already has an auto-add rule, the website uses that rule once.

Steps

Open Sync → Sales Channels and open the B2C Widget channel. Open Settings. The Widgets tab is only the embed code you paste on the website.
Scroll to Tire quoter services. Each catalog service has Optional and Mandatory. Leave both unchecked to hide that service on this website.
Check Optional to offer the service at checkout when the shopper chooses shop install or mobile install. It is not included in the price on the search card. Ship to home does not offer these services.
Check Mandatory to include the service in the out-the-door price on the search card and at checkout. It is not offered again as a checkout choice.
If the service already has an auto-add rule, Mandatory uses that rule once. The row says it is charged once and is not charged again. Do not add a second fee. Checking Optional turns those rules off for this website only. POS and Books still use the rule.
If there is no auto-add rule, Mandatory adds the catalog price to every tire, or once per tire line when the service quantity is once. That does not create a POS or Books auto-add rule. Create the rule in POS or Books → Settings → Auto-add Rules when the counter should use the same fee.
Save the channel. In the widget preview, confirm the search card out-the-door total includes mandatory services, then open checkout and confirm optional services appear only for shop install and mobile install.

Conclusion & best practices

Widget auto-add rules on the same Settings page are the same charge. Uncheck a rule to take it out of this website price and keep it in POS and Books. If that was the last rule for the service, the service is hidden until you check Optional. Offer all as optional does not change a service that is already mandatory.
